Our Volunteers Make a Difference
Amelia Branch Volunteers
Amelia’s volunteers are a diverse and integral part of the Amelia branch. Being a volunteer not only helps the library but fulfills some personal goals as well. Melody, one of Amelia’s adult volunteers, states that “being a volunteer is definitely a win-win situation. The library needs some extra hands at times. I need to fill some of my time while seeking employment! Therefore-a win-win situation.”
Amelia’s teen volunteers have been very involved in preparing story time crafts for the summer programs. This summer they have assisted in programs such as the Explorer’s club and Harry Potter birthday party. Teens also help keep the branch looking great by straightening and cleaning books. Amelia’s adult volunteers can be found shelving audio materials such as DVDs and music cd’s, straightening and helping cut out crafts for the children’s programs. Adult volunteers have also worked on placing ABC and 123 stickers on the juvenile picture books.
Amelia’s awesome book fair volunteers set up and take down the book fair in the fall and spring. Proceeds from the book fair have funded library programs such as the monthly Crafternoon programs for adults, the Holiday Open house, the Mardi Gras mask making, Dr. Seuss birthday party, the Cincinnati Museum center program, and Back to School bash - Diary of a Wimpy kid, and purchased new CD shelving bins.
