Our Volunteers Make a difference
Goshen Branch Volunteers
When asked to write a couple of paragraphs to describe the Goshen Volunteer group, it was hard to sum up their value in so few words. The Goshen branch currently has a total of 33 volunteers. The ages of our volunteers varies between 14 years of age to 70 plus and it is wonderful how well everyone works together. Our newest Volunteer, Danielle, says it has been a good learning experience and taught her the importance of following through with commitments.
Some of the volunteers donate time consistently week after week for several years and others who donate time when needed for our Book Fair, Book Buddies and our Annual Goshen Branch Open House which takes place in August or September each year. The Volunteers who donate time each week help shelve returned items, clean and straighten shelves/computers, and help prepare craft items for programs.
Book Fair volunteers have two Book Fairs a year. One in the Spring and the other in Fall to raise money for our special events, such as, Open House and other unique programs for library families to enjoy. Our Book Buddies Program is also funded by our Volunteers. Book Buddies is a seven week mentoring program that is designed to help children practice reading over the summer months.
Lastly, our Volunteers for the past two summers have donated enough money to pay for Goshen’s portion of the System-wide Summer Reading Program for ages 0-18. The money is used to buy prizes for completing various reading activities. The funds raised and donated by the Volunteers have provided the Goshen Branch Library with so much. The Staff would like to say Thank You for all you do and for allowing our branch to provide the community with all of these wonderful things.
